Brandywine, Columbus,Potomac, & Savannah. (Also
Cumberland until rebuilt 1854). Congress similiar.
Tonnage 1,726 tons
Armament 10 x 8"/63, 24 x 32pdr/57, 16 x 32pdr/33
(May 63 2 x 50pdr rifles replaced 6 x 32pdr/33).
Served most of the war in various blockading squadrons,
as did others of her class. Damaged by CSS Virginia at
Hampton Road 1861. Finally sold December 1875.
