FRENCH XEBEC OF 1750
Fast Lanteen masted vessel built for service in the Mediterranean.Widely used by all countries with
forces in the Mediterranean the are best known
for their use by Algerian pirates.
A light armament was carried 2 x 6 pdr, and 10
3 pdr’s with usually a large number of swivels.
(The one British Xebec, H.M.S. Minorca carried
18 x 6 pdr and 20 swivels.)
