Description - CAT
The Cat was widely used in Northern waters. There
were various sizes of Cat produced and the model
depicted, designed by Chapman towards the end of
the eighteenth century, was designated as a merchant
vessel - 4th class.
Only a small crew of some 25-35 persons was
carried. A light armament was sometimes carried
for protection against privateers -
8 x 6pdr being typical. Colour: Sides – natural
wood, Deck – scrubbed teak.
