Description - LE POMPÉE - FRENCH 74 GUN SHIP Launched 1791 at Toulon and captured by the British two years later. She served in the Royal Navy until 1817. Two British ships, Achilles and Superb were built to the same lines. Similiar French vessels include:- Duquesne, Guillaume Tell, Centaure, Commerce de Bordeaux, Alcide, Heureux, Spartiate,Tonnant & Séduisant. Armament 28 x 36 pdr, 30 x 18 pdr, 16 x 8 pdr (2 x 8 pdr removed and replaced by 14 x 36 pdr carronades on most survivors from 1800 onwards)
