Description - ARMED JUNK x 2 N9036
Kwantung sea-going junk widely used in
Southern China in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Although primarily merchant vessels, they
were widely both by the Chinese Navy and
by Pirates as armed vessels due to their speed
and strength. 11 junks of this type served at
the Battle of Foochow as part of the Naval
Squadron. When armed they could carry 4
or 6 smooth bore guns, usually 24 pdrs.
