Description - THE SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS NDW102 ENGLISH SHIP OF THE FIRST RANK OF 1637 Rebuilt 1651 as model, and again in 1684.Renamed Sovereign and the Royal Sovereign in 1660. Burnt by accident in 1696. Known to the Dutch as the 'Golden Devil' as her decoration was real gilt. Tonnage 1605 tons Dimensions 127' x 47' x 19' Armament(1666) 22 x 42 pdr, 6 x 32 pdr 28 x 18 pdr, 36 x 9 pdr (Planned for 90 guns she carried up to 104 at times)
