Description - FMA401 ALLOUETTE III First flown in 1959, the SA319 Allouette 111 was intended to be a more powerful development of the Allouette II. However, when production started in 1961 it had become a much more advance helicopter. As well as seeing service in the French armed Forces it has been sold to over 40 other countries, and has been built under licence in Switzerland, Romania and India. It can carry two stretchers in addition to it’s crew of two, or alternatively 6 fully equipped troops. Some countries, including Rhodesia have used them as gunships with two machine guns or 1 20mm cannon. It has also been used in an ASW role. Maximum range 375 miles Maximum payload 1,600 lbs
