Description - BA307 - FAIREY SEA FOX Fleet Air Arm Spotting and Reconnaissance aircraft designed to be catapulted from Capital ships and cruisers. The aircraft was unusual in that the pilot had an open cockpit, whereas the observer had the comfort of a closed cockpit. A total of 64 Sea Fox’s were ordered in 1936 and from 1937 onwards they started to join the fleet. By W.W. 2 they were usually operated from cruisers. In 1939 one of two Sea Fox’s aboard HMS Ajax spotted for her guns during the pursuit of the Admiral Graf Spee. The aircraft ceased to be in front line service after 1942, but continued in a training role. Maximum Speed 124 mph. Max Range 440 miles Armament–one rear firing 0303” machine gun
