Description - BA301 GLOSTER GLADIATOR First flown in 1935, deliveries of the Gladiator to the RAF commenced in 1937. A total of 746 were built and were operated by Australia, Belgium, China, Egypt, Finland, Ireland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal and Sweden as well as the RAF and Fleet Air Arm. Although some squadrons had started to re-equip in 1939, others remained in front line service. Gladiators fought in France, Norway, Malta and the Middle East, and Finnish Gladiators took an active part in the war with Russia. By 1944 most Gladiators had been withdrawn from British service. The armament consisted of 4 0.303” machine guns, two mounted along the fuselage, and two under the wings. Maximum Speed 257 mph, Combat Range 440 miles. Ceiling – 33,500 feet.
