Description - GA303 ARADO Ar 196 First flown in 1937, the Ar 196 was designed to provide a twin float two-seater reconnaissance aircraft for use on board German Naval vessels. It was first carried by the Admiral Graf Spee. By 1944 nearly 600 had been built. Two early aircraft captured the British submarine Seal off the Danish coast. Later aircraft were also used for land-based reconnaissance, and were operated by Finland, Bulgaria and Romania as well as the Luftwaffe.
