Description - FIESLER Fi 156 " STORCH" Two seat Army co-operation/reconnaissance aircraft first flown in 1936. It served with German forces and their allies throughout the war in nearly all theatres. It’s most notable attribute was the very short take off required, being only 200’ with a slight breeze blowing towards it. Landing was even less. After WW2 production continued in both France and Czechoslovakia, and aircraft then saw service with the Swiss and Spanish Air Forces as well as those of the UK, USA and USSR. It was also used as a medical evacuation aircraft, and by special forces. One was flown into Berlin as late as April 26 1945, and another used to “rescue” Mussolini in 1943.
