Description - GA305 HEINKEL He 51 First flown in 1933, the He 51 entered production in 1934. It was the first fighter to serve with the Luftwaffe after being established in April 1935. By the time production had ceased a total of 700 aircraft had been built, including some 70 with floats for service with the Kriegsmarine, and 79 shipped to Spain to fight with the Spanish Nationalists. Although it ceased front line service in 1938, the He 51 remained in service as a trainer throughout World War II.
