Description - STAAKEN V1 GERMAN LARGE BOMBER In Service June 1917 Speed 81 mph Ceiling 12,500' Armament 3 x Lewis m.g.'s in nose, upper wing and dorsal/ventral positions. Maximum bomb load 4,400 lb but 2.200 lb more usual. A total of 18 of these very large bombers were completed by various manufacturers. These were mainly used for bombing raids against England and France, often in company with Gotha bombers. Only two were ever shot down, but 8 more were destroyed in crashes..,
